As a product of the sociopolitical dynamics of the contemporary world, the concept of public administration in the common imaginary has mutated to the point of being considered as synonymous with corruption. In this sense, the present manuscript had as objective to make a theoretical dissertation about the antagonistic relation of the two concepts. The study was qualitative descriptive, based on secondary sources. Among the most important findings, there is an approximation to the concept of corruption, the classification of its antagonistic relationship with the public administration, and finally, the establishment of the challenges that society has for the eradication of this phenomenon. In the conclusions section, we emphasize empowerment, education and training, as strategic actions for the success of social control, and the importance of ethics as key elements for the preservation of the nature of the public.
