Preservation Policy

Digital Preservation Policy of the FAGROPEC Journal

The FAGROPEC Journal, published by the University of the Amazon Press, is committed to ensuring the digital preservation and open access (OA) to all its content. Our journal is available at the following link: https://editorial.uniamazonia.edu.co/fagropec/index. All published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. Digital Preservation and Permanent Access

The FAGROPEC Journal ensures the long-term preservation of its content through the following strategies:

Automatic Backup:

The University of the Amazon’s IT department performs automatic backups of all journal content every 24 hours. This ensures that published articles are protected against data loss and can be recovered in the event of any unforeseen circumstances.

Institutional Repository:

All articles published in the FAGROPEC Journal are deposited in the University of the Amazon’s Institutional Repository, which has a preservation policy that ensures:

Integrity and Security: Content is regularly checked to ensure its integrity, security, and durability.

Format Migration: When necessary, content will be converted to new formats to ensure its future accessibility.

Software Emulation: In the event that certain formats cannot be migrated, software emulations will be provided to ensure access to the original content.

Regular Backups: Periodic backups of all content, including data and metadata, are performed to prevent information loss.

PKP (Public Knowledge Project) Preservation Network:

The FAGROPEC Journal is supported by the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a digital preservation system developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP). This system uses LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) technology, which offers:

Decentralized Preservation: Content is stored on multiple servers around the world, ensuring its permanent availability.

Perpetual Access: Readers can access articles without interruption, even in the long term.

Preservation of the Original Version: The authentic version of published articles is preserved, ensuring their authenticity and originality.

PKP PN is a free, open-access system specifically designed for journals using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) software, as is the case with the FAGROPEC Journal. This system is ideal for journals that lack the resources to integrate with paid preservation services, and it reinforces our commitment to open access and the democratization of knowledge.

Commitment to Open Access and Preservation

At Revista FAGROPEC, we believe in the importance of preserving scientific knowledge for future generations. Our digital preservation policy not only guarantees the security and accessibility of published articles but also reinforces our commitment to the global academic community by offering free and open access to all our content.

We invite authors, readers, and institutions to collaborate with us in this effort to keep scientific production alive and ensure that the knowledge generated at the Faculty of Agriculture is available to everyone, now and in the future.
