Caring for children: Challenges from early childhood education

Abstract

This article presents the results of a biographical narrative research that consisted in revealing the transformations generated in the training process in early childhood education during COVID-19. As an object of analysis, we had as object of analysis the stories of teachers, caregivers, children and teachers in training about their feelings and educational experiences during the pandemic. The analysis is based on authorities such as Dusell (2020), Simmons and Mashelin (2014) Sanchez (2018) who study the implications of crises in education from which it is evident that education presents several challenges for both teachers and students because they were not prepared to move comfort zones, to question the pedagogical practice and the meaning of early childhood education that allows caring for children. It was evidenced that the school moved to homes unveils historicities that underlie the educational act beyond a physical space, that the educational communities faced great challenges to take care of children beyond training.
